A fixture of Philly nightlife, "DJ Ernesto" was well-known and loved by many, his younger sister Teresa said.
"It was difficult to go anywhere without someone recognizing Ernie," she wrote on GoFundMe. "Ernie had a larger-than-life personality and the biggest heart."
On social media, community members and loved ones posted photos and penned tributes in memory of the late DJ.
"Always good times and good vibes when we saw each other," said fellow Philadelphia DJ Kyn Mixson. "Keep the people partying in heaven."
In addition to his many friends and colleagues, Di Siro is survived by his teenage daughter Audrey. The memorial contributions raised on GoFundMe will benefit her education, Teresa says.
"In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider making a donation in Ernie's memory to support his daughter," she wrote. "Any donation in support of Ernie would be the best way to honor his memory."
In less than 24 hours after going live, the effort has raised more than $12,000 of its $15,000 goal.
